The second sermon in this two-part series continues to review advice and admonitions from the Book of Proverbs and other books in the Bible. In each sermon, ten areas are reviewed, and when the advice given is implemented, good outcomes are the end product.
Sermons
Bible Gems, Part 1
In this first of a two-part series on “Bible Gems,” the Book of Proverbs is used to show us how to act, behave, and make decisions for virtually any situation. Both wisdom and foolishness are addressed to show right from wrong and how we can make those decisions which can best assist us at this time and in the way that God approves.
What Are You Thinking About?
We think about all kinds of various things on a daily basis but controlling what we think about, especially when it’s negative, can be challenging. How do we limit our negative thoughts and instead focus on the positive that will bring about good fruit?
The Biblical View on World Developments—Comments on News and Prophecy, January 14, 2023
We discuss the burden of sin; the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House and Donald Trump’s involvement; whether there are any biblical exceptions for abortion; the biblical teaching on paying taxes; TSA’s extension of Corona vax mandates for tourists; serious suspected cases of corona vaccination complications in Germany; constitutional restrictions in Ukraine; discrimination; and biblical prophecies showing that the third temple will be built on the Temple Mount.
Good Intentions for 2023
Let us look at our lives sincerely and honestly; let us examine ourselves and see where we need improvement. Ignoring certain areas of weakness and shortcoming does not bring results; instead, we must take up the fight. Good intentions are important, but they must be put into action.
Special
When we are considered to be special by others, especially by those we hold in high esteem, it feels great. We feel loved and valued. Do we realize that God Himself considers us to be special to Him? What can we do to honor that privilege and develop our relationship with Him?
They Who Overcome the World
Jesus made a profound statement to His disciples when He said, “I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). What did He mean, and how does that apply to Christians, today? Is it actually possible for us to also overcome the world?
True Repentance
At the heart of Christianity is the doctrine that as human beings we need forgiveness of our sins to obtain salvation, and inherit eternal life. A naïve prescription for becoming forgiven instructs people that all they need to do is to believe in Christ to be saved. While this is a necessary condition for receiving forgiveness, merely believing is not independently sufficient. We need to begin by understanding our sins and turning away from them. This is the act of true repentance.
I Wouldn’t Have Done That
The expression “I wouldn’t have done that” can often be made with the advantage of hindsight. We can sit in judgement when we may not know all the facts or have been in the position that others may have found themselves in.
A Short History of Christmas Observance
The celebration of Christmas, as well as being Pagan, has had a long and confusing observance. December the twenty fifth is not the only time it was and is celebrated, and at different times and places, it was banned altogether. God commands us not to keep it.
