This Week in the News

We begin with an incredible and unprecedented breach of US security through the release of highly classified documents, and the resulting melt-down for the USA around the world is devastating. The reports picture the USA as a weak and irresponsible power, and whatever trust its allies might have had seems to have all but vanished (notwithstanding some political and unbelievable lip services to the contrary ). It should be obvious that the God of the Bible–the God and Father of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ–has turned His back on His people, as His people–from head to foot–have turned their back on Him.

A related article pictures the US citizens’ gradual loss of liberties and freedoms, referring to the fact that tax exemption can be denied for organizations which are not in accord with “established public policy principles”–as this vague term is conveniently defined.

The Bible prophesied these regrettable and devastating developments thousands of years ago. The warnings have always been there, but especially the USA and Great Britain have been refusing to heed them. We are beginning to reap the consequences. We pray that the reader will meditate on the following articles and recognize the signs of the time. The handwriting is on the wall. It is MUCH later than many would wish to think.

We also report on China and Russia–two superpowers which, like the proverbial leopards, do not change their spots–and we discuss at length the future of the EU and the euro. There is much confusion as to what the future holds for continental Europe, but the Bible has reported it in advance thousands of years ago.

This Week in the News

We begin with the rising danger of war between North and South Korea, and the dilemma which this situation poses for President Obama. While China and Russia renounce the U.S. dollar, Israelis and Palestinians utter their disappointment with the lack of American leadership in the Middle East.

We continue with a report on Ireland’s inevitable decision to be bailed out by Europe, showing that a “deep divide of two almost irreconcilable camps” exists in Europe. While we can safely predict that the euro will survive, the “two camps” might give way to the prophesied emergence of a core Europe, consisting of ten nations or groups of nations.

Newspapers write about Germany’s “astounding growth,” but at the same time, reports of possible terror attacks in Germany are causing fear and concern; and such reactions might have undesirable consequences for the country in the long(er) run.

The pope’s confusing statements about condoms have raised unrealistic hopes of a change in Roman Catholicism; the pope’s new comments about Pius XII have angered Jewish leaders; and the pope’s recent letter to Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad raises questions as to the Vatican’s ambitions in the Middle East.

This Week in the News

The G-20 summit turned out to be a terrible embarrassment for President Obama and the USA. National and international reports agree that America failed in an unprecedented way–and that America’s influence in the world is shrinking. Fears of a trade war are felt–but we are also reminded that fears of a nuclear war are as real; and the incredible tragedy is that such a war could be caused by human or technical error.

Mysterious occurrences over California, reminiscent of a missile, coupled with the steadfast flimsy denial of the US government of possessing any knowledge, and the strange crippling of a US based cruise ship, are fuelling these fears.

While Russia is pursuing its national interests, by seeking alliances with the USA, Europe and China, and while France is moving to the right, President Bush’s selective memoirs continue to alienate Europe and the USA. The situation in Iraq and in the Middle East in general is as volatile as ever, with Iran trying to establish itself as the master over Syria and other nations.

Europe is facing another crisis, but we can safely say that the euro is here to stay. However, we also know that in the not-too-distant future, a core Europe of ten nations or groups of nations will emerge. This may very well happen because of internal strife and external threats.

We conclude with articles about superstitions within the Greek Orthodox Church; current and past turmoil within the Catholic Church, which shed interesting light on pertinent biblical prophecies; as well as a new locust plague in Australia.

This Week in the News

We report on the financial crisis in the USA and its fiscal policy, which has been criticized as a terrible and extremely dangerous failure, with potentially horrendous results for the USA and the global market. Germany especially is reacting with outright anger and condemnation, calling the USA hypocritical and a violator of international agreements. The ghostly serpent of “bank holidays,” as instituted in the 1930s, is again raising its ugly head.

In spite of many concerned voices inside and outside the USA, warning of the current political and economic direction which the USA is pursuing, it appears that no course adjustment is forthcoming. Not unlike the superstitious confidence in the “unsinkable” Titanic, our government leaders still seem to believe that we will prevail in the end, no matter how questionable our policies are and how dark the future appears. The Bible warns of “foolish prophets” who envision futility and who speak nonsense, while neglecting to turn to God and His words (Ezekiel 13:1-14).

Focusing on Europe, anger and anti-Americanism are also renewed and deepened due to former President Bush’s new book; the EU President warns of war because of rising European nationalism; Germany says she is willing to use military means in defense of economic interests; voices ask whether French democracy is in jeopardy due to the government’s self-serving politics; and Italy’s immorality in government circles is exposed.

We conclude with a brief excerpt showing that peace in the Middle East is as illusive as ever.

This Week in the News

Americans have voted and changed Washington’s landscape for at least the next two years. Commentators are showing cautious optimism or predicting stalemate and failure. Some feel that not only President Obama and the Democratic Party, but also Washington are the big losers–and they warn that the American vote was not an approval of Republican politics, either. America’s future looks grimmer than ever, and Der Spiegel wonders whether the American dream is over, and America is now just a declining superpower.

God is not on the minds of the American people, and the abominable Halloween celebrations show this most clearly. One of our articles discusses the surprising modern origin of this Satanic feast. We also point out that Mexico’s annual “Day of the Dead” celebrations have become grim reality.

Turning our attention to the recent bomb threats, stemming from terrorists in Yemen, observers explain that stringent security measures at international airports, as proposed by some, could lead to the end of world trade.

The ghost of the Lisbon Treaty is very much alive, and the agreement of EU leaders to amend the Treaty, thereby following German demands, could create more harm than good for a unified Europe. Politicians are trying to avoid with all costs the need for further referendums on the Treaty, realizing that many European citizens are becoming more and more frustrated with their weak European “leaders.” The time for the creation of a “core Europe” and a strong leader in Europe may arrive soon.

A landmark decision on military and nuclear cooperation between Britain and France may set the stage for the creation of a European army, but Britain may ultimately become the “odd man out.”

We are reporting on Britain’s shameful abortion policies and on Germany’s strong economic showing–noting however that most Germans don’t credit their government for the success–and we conclude with reports on pending disasters in Indonesia and Haiti, bringing vividly to mind Christ’s warnings about the beginning of sorrows in the end time (Matthew 24:7; Luke 21:11).

This Week in the News

A remarkable confrontation is developing between the Catholic Church and Israel over the biblical “right” to the Promised Land. Israel has been judged as one of the corrupt countries in the Western world. The controversy over Islamists in Europe is continuing and is involving a debate in Germany as to how much church should be in the state. Germany is still haunted by its Nazi past, also in light of new revelations of how much of the Nazi propaganda was embraced by large sections of the German people, and how events were covered up for many years after World War II.

We are informed that there are plans to create a network of European far-right parties; and that President Sarkozy’s approval rate is at an all-time low which might induce him to turn to far-right voters for help. At the same time, Germany and France are demanding an amendment to the European treaty, and according to the Economist, Europe needs, but fears, German leadership.

Turning to events in the USA, some observers are alarmed over President Obama’s repeated omission of the “Creator,” when quoting the Declaration of Independence; and the embarrassing and potentially dangerous release of classified military documents on Iraq does not only show unspeakable torture and cruelty, as well as high numbers of deaths of innocent civilians, but it also manifests the inability of the USA for many years to fight successfully in Iraq; and it shows how much America has become a deeply humiliated giant.

We report on Europe’s complaints about America’s intrusive travel restrictions, and address Syria’s fears and concerns pertaining to Iran’s ambitions in the Middle East.

We conclude with a piece on bees–stinging to death the myth of evolution.

This Week in the News

We begin with reports on Germany’s ongoing controversy with Islam. While President Christian Wulff exclaims that Islam belongs in Germany and Chancellor Angela Merkel postulates that Germany’s attempt to build a multicultural society has utterly failed, CSU-Leader Horst Seehofer demands a stop to all new immigration. Germany’s “rising star,” Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, has so far apparently refrained from speaking on the issue. Germans are becoming increasingly concerned about Islam and the Muslims among them–so much so that “The Local” already speaks of Germany’s and Europe’s “NEW ANTI-SEMITISM.”

The Dutch government needs to rely on anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party, and many observers believe that charges against Wilders for hate speech will soon be dropped. Anti-Muslim sentiments can also be observed in Russia.

France is engulfed in strikes, but the EU has concluded that it does not need to penalize France for their deportation of Roma or Gypsies.

Der Spiegel reports about President Obama’s disappearing “magic,” and it points out HOW MUCH Europe and America are apart.

We also report about the ongoing “hopeless” Afghan war; talk about Israel’s position that “no one will dictate Israel’s borders”; ask how the U.S. midterm elections might affect the Middle East; show how the Lebanese Shiites love the Iranian President; and conclude with Britain’s shock over huge and unprecedented spending cuts.

This Week in the News

We begin with an article by Newsmax about Sarah Palin, which is riddled with biblical errors. We continue with an accurate article by Newsmax revealing Iran’s true colors, report on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit in Lebanon, and quote other news articles showing that there is no peace in the world–nor seemingly true freedom in a country which is called the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”

Experts warn of a violent and devastating earthquake in California which could strike at any time and which is now perceived to become much bigger and widespread than previously assumed, and we show that the USA and the dollar are being excluded from Turkish-Chinese business transactions, while the relationship between the USA and China is troubled.

Turning to Europe, an interesting deal is being made between France and Great Britain involving nuclear warheads and Germany has become one of the non-permanent members of the UN Security Council. We conclude with articles showing that Europe’s battle with Islam is continuing, and while mainstream politicians don’t seem to understand or are unwilling to publicly admit how the people really feel, right-wing propagandists seem to have their finger on the pulse.

This Week in the News

The threat from Muslim terrorists emerged this week as a major worry for Europe! No longer just aimed at the United States and Great Britain, “sleeper cells” with extensive training are already placed for action in Europe. Along with this sobering news, we report about the burgeoning resentment that is surfacing concerning Islamic immigrants–especially in Germany.

A catastrophic spill of industrial sludge that caused death and widespread dangerous pollution in Hungary has brought an outcry for more government controls throughout Europe.

“Deadlocked” describes the latest round of fruitless peace negotiations in the Middle East.

Finally, we take note of the death of Art Gilmore, who was for years a recognized voice announcing “The World Tommorow” radio program.

This Week in the News

The papal visit to Great Britain now overshadows events that are also playing out in Europe and the Middle East. Unsettling comments are flying back and forth between France and its allies over the treatment of alien migrants, as we report. While much talk is taking place surrounding attempts of resolving settlements in the West Bank, the net effect remains an ongoing stalemate.
