Should Christians Keep Easter?

Standing Watch Program: Should Christians Keep Easter

Does Easter really commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Find out the truth about Easter and its customs.

Timing Just Doesn’t Add Up

What would be your reaction if you were told that Easter was neither Christian, nor that it memorializes the death and resurrection of our Savior? Would it surprise you to hear that many Christians have believed over the centuries that Christ was neither crucified on a Friday, nor that He was resurrected on a Sunday? They have even claimed that if He had been, He could not have been our Savior! Why would they feel that way?

According to the Bible, Jesus Christ stated that His ONLY SIGN for His Messiahship was that He would be dead and buried in the heart of the earth for “three days and three nights” (Matthew 12:38–40). The problem is that the period from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, traditionally accepted by most professing Christians, simply does NOT constitute 72 hours!

The True Origin of Easter Customs

Where did the modern name “Easter” derive from, and what do egg-laying Easter rabbits and colored Easter eggs have to do with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ?

Find out how and why Easter became the most important holiday in Christianity, and whether it is a day which true Christians ought to celebrate.
